Our Music Now, Makes The Rebel ,Yeah.

I am your generation. I smoke, I drink alcohol, I go clubbing and listen to great music of the modern age! Music is part of our everyday life, we hear them in the kitchen’s radio while mommy is busy preparing for breakfast, in the bus while we wiggle those toes inside our shoes hoping the next bus stop is our destination, while we eat in a restaurant, when we watch television and many more! Music is part of our history and what we are right now.

How did music survive these years? Primarily because it relaxes our souls, it becomes one with our  body, it makes good stories of our lives where we can relate. Personally, I feel that old age music has been really good, it made sense and has touched a lot of people’s hearts. The question is, what happened to our music nowadays?

Because of the inevitable music evolution, it also affected how people perceive or understand its value and meaning . Before, we tend to be more inclined in wonderful lyrics that made sense. Now, we listen to the robotic beats, and to lyrics that sometimes, we don’t understand, we just listen and groove to it. This may not be applicable to all, but generally a lot of people nowadays, especially the younger ones would be guilty of this.

In this changing world, the music industry has done its best not to be left behind, as a matter of fact the music industries’ influence on us people lives on by the way we think, feel and socialize. It’s sad that in my observation, a lot of those who’s in the music industry has been leading their followers to somewhere ‘dark’. Don’t worry, this is not a blog about my opinion in the live’s of these artists but mainly to breakdown what music they are infusing the new generation. Let me name some and give out 1 song and its lyrics:

1. Beyonce– a grown woman, definitely an icon, our Queen B.

  • Grown woman- is part of her record breaking itunes album release last year! No doubt, her music greatly influences us people.

I’m a big girl now, said I’m gon’ do something
Told the world I would paint this town
But now bitches I run this

I can be bad if I want

I can do wrong if I want

I can live fast if I want

I can go slow all night long

I’m a grown woman
So I know how to ride it
I’m a grown woman
And I’m so erotic
I’m a grown woman
Look down, got you so excited
I’m a grown woman
Look at my body

It ain’t no fun
If a girl can’t have none.
You really wanna know how I got it like that
‘Cause I got a cute face
And my booty so fat

Go girl (go girl)
She got that bomb (that bomb)
That girl can get whatever she wants.
Go girl (hey girl),
She got that tight (that tight).
Them boys,
They do whatever she likes

Empowerment, that’s what this song is all about, it’s a great way to deceive and brainwash the younger generation. It feels good to be free and make our own choices. Wow.

Behind this empowerment is promoting liberation, that it’s like eating your dinner to say ‘bitches’, that we can be bad and wrong when we want to, that because you all are ‘grown woman’ you are erotic, you are sexy. These lyrics plainly promotes liberation to do all bad things and not mind what other people are thinking, does that include your parents? Liberation, sinking to sin and not empowerment is the message in my point of view, no good people will tell you that you got a man because you have a cute face and a fat ass and that men do whatever these ‘grown woman’ wants. You girls out there should know that you have more than physical appearance to get a man; you have brains, I advice you feel and observe if it is worth it to indulge in the ecstasy of these songs.

2. Rihanna- Bad gal. I am a cool woman. The only girl in the world.

  • S&M- Who did not sing this song? Anyone? Raise your hand and be a hypocrite now, this is one of her hits in the album LOUD.

Feels so good being bad (Oh oh oh oh oh)
There’s no way I’m turning back (Oh oh oh oh oh)
Now the pain is my pleasure ’cause nothing could measure (Oh oh oh oh oh)

Cause I may be bad, but I’m perfectly good at it
Sex in the air, I don’t care, I love the smell of it
Sticks and stones may break my bones
But chains and whips excite me

Oh, I love the feeling you bring to me, oh, you turn me on
It’s exactly what I’ve been yearning for, give it to me strong
And meet me in my boudoir, make my body say ah ah ah
I like it-like it

Sex. It feels great to have sex, wow. Everybody,  sex is a private thing; we can keep our kinky fantasies in the corners of our houses or wherever we do it. I don’t think any woman has been respected for shouting they are crazy about it. Most of the women in this caliber are seen by men as sex symbols/objects, save the planet, save some respect.

I don’t have anything with these people who wanted more fame and money. My concern is the young crowd hearing these songs and being brainwashed that these actions translated into catchy melodies are correct and cool, hell NO. If these artists really care about their fans, they would care about the songs they will sing, they would care about how their music videos will be done-  and they should, because they chose to be public figures and people that are in a normal state of mind, would know what’s right from wrong. THEY have their CHOICES. Promoting something wrong can never, and will never be right.

I’m not sure about what’s happening in their lives, and I’m not just pointing fingers to these people whom I’ve chosen as an example, there are lots of artists that does the same promotion of ‘dark’ acts. They have great influential powers  and I’m wishing they could use it to purposes that are of value. People, wake-up, probably you have visited this article as a sign that you need to start doing your research and act upon what’s right. If you care for the people around you, open their eyes. At the end of the day, we want them to live a straight and happy life, we all want that.

By the way, no one is stopping you on ‘idolizing’ these people or their music, just make sure you remember what’s just and right, do not forget your values and who you are even before you heard these artists. You are unique, cool and you will always be that way in the eyes of the people who loves you.

  1. I am actually not into this sort of music, (probably too old) but instead I love trailer music, epic music, big orchestras and choirs or without. Some slow some faster, something for every mood. Not that many people know it.
What you are writing is correct, and I agree totally wiht it. Even if you idolise some of these artist, stay true to yourself and be you!
